Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from Leiden University and based at the Leiden Bio Science Park, Mimetas develops organ-on-a-chip products and tissue models that allow early-stage testing of drugs for their efficacy and safety.

Mimetas’ mission is to contribute to groundbreaking therapies by uncovering unique human disease systems with robust, screenable assays on the most versatile technology platform. Mimetas believes that phenotypic tissue and disease simulation is at the core of 21st-century therapy development.

Over the years, Mimetas has grown rapidly and now collaborates with almost all major pharmaceutical companies and many leading academic institutions. In 2018, Mimetas opened a subsidiary in Tokyo to further expand its presence in Asia.
